Children's Ministry at FIRST UMC
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me." And what an invitation that is--always open for all children to discover the joy of being loved and accepted and cared for.

As United Methodists, we offer the sacrament of baptism to all, from the newborn to adult. A child is baptized as a sign of the grace that is always before us, and parents and guardians make promises to raise that little one in the ways of God. When children are old enough to understand more fully the Good News of Jesus Christ, we bring them through a Confirmation Class into full membership of the church.

We also follow the Safe Sanctuary guidelines set out by The United Methodist Church. Every volunteer and staff person working with children and youth must give us permission to perform a thorough background check.

Including Children in our Worship

Our summer schedule allows for a Children's Worship during the regular Worship Service.  The children will come forward for our children's message and then go to one of the classrooms for a worship time of their own.  This summer the children (ages 4 and up) are learning the TEN Commandments.  During the school year, we offer the "Midweek Miracle," a special program for all children and youth.  Worship also includes a children's message each week.

Vacation Bible School

Each summer, we have an eventful, fun-filled Vacation Bible School.  This year's theme is "Spirit of the Sea."  Children from all over come and enjoy time with our talented teachers. VBS will be July 26-30 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  There is a fee of $15.00 to participate.  Print registration form here.  Registration is limited and required.

We also have a very popular Children's Day Out program which is open five days a week.
