CDO Approved for 100 children! PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Our Children’s Day Out (CDO) program passed its initial requirements set by the Texas Department of Protective and Family Services. This means the church can now offer full-time day care for up to 100 children.

The pre-school is open from 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and cares for children from six weeks to pre-kindergarten age.  Its curriculum is based on the Texas Education and Knowledge skills assessment. The center provides a variety of activities throughout the day including Chapel, Music, Science, Recreation, Crafts and skilled Instructional Time.

The Director, Reverend Kristi Lounsbury, stated, “This is only the beginning for Children’s Day Out.  We have wonderful plans for continued expansion.  Our first step will be to apply for Child Care Services which will allow for families of all incomes to experience and benefit from our program.”

Children’s Day Out still has space available for children.  Parents may choose two, three, four, or five days of care for their child.  Rates depend upon the enrolled attendance and age of the child.  For more information, please use the CDO link on the home page of this website or call Kristi at 940-482-1977.

Holy Communion PDF  | Print |  E-mail
For some years, we have celebrated the sacrament of Holy Communion on the First Sunday of the month.  We will continue to do so during these summer months, but will do so during the 9:30-9:50 time rather than later in the service.

I urge you to consider attending this part of the worship service at least once a month, and more often if you can.  We understand the act of receiving the elements of bread and juice during the Service of Holy Communion as a means of grace.  As we come forward to receive, we make a statement of belief and of receptivity to the Spirit of God.  The very act touches us.  It reminds us that we are active participants in our salvation. We celebrate the mystery of Christ's life, death and resurrection.

Before coming forward, we engage in a time of soul searching and confession.  We are reminded of the center of the Good News:  "Christ died for us while we were still sinners.  That proves God's love for us.  In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven."

We will be following this modified schedule for the first Sundays of July, August and September.  During this time, we will not be having our usual First Sunday Lunch (two of those days fall on holiday weekends:  July 4 and Labor Day), but we will resume those good times together in October.

See you on Sunday!

Time to Re-Enroll Kroger Cards

It is time to re-enroll your Kroger Plus card. Yes, you must enroll your card each program- year, but it only needs to be done once per year. To enroll, present the Kroger cashier a “Customer Letter with Bar Code” to be scanned before your groceries are tallied. You may pick up a copy of this letter, with bar code, at the church office or print one yourself from here.

We received $471 from Kroger this spring for our participation in the 2009 program year, July – April. Please enroll soon and shop there often. Remember that you need the “Customer Letter” only once.
